Are cheap flights coming to an end ?

With Ryanair announcing a 12% increase in the price of a ticket and the strong possibility that other companies will follow suit, does this mean the end of cheap and reasonable flight costs to European destinations; also long-haul flight costs ?

Perhaps the flight companies are unable to prevent the increase, after all they have experienced increases of 35% in oil prices and, of course, they will all complain about the government ‘contribution’ to the problem – Air Passenger Duty (APD) has soared over recent years (under the label of being a ‘green’ environmental tax) and can be up to £85 for long-distance economy journeys.
